== Brief History of Modern Korea ==

Have you ever heard of Korea?
It is a small county situated in North East Asia
This story begins in 1910

In 1910, Koreans lost their country.
The tyranny was too much for the Korean people.
so they moved Manchuria and Russia to resistant.
but many of them were killed or conscripted.


After 25 years of painful struggling. they declared their independence.
but they had to have another tragedy first

Korean War

The war was painful agony.
and they lost everything again.
They never dreamed about the future.
praying was the only thing they could do.
Their only desire was
to find food and to stay alive.
Only the ruins was left after the war.

However, the Koreans knew what to do,
it was hard work,
but they never gave up.
All the people worked together to rebuild their nation.
It's been 50 years since they rebuild their nation.

2002- World cup Korea-Japan
The construction industry - 3rd in the world
Nuclear power plant operation - 5th in the world
The steel industry = 5th in the world
The automotive industry - 5th in the world
The display industry - 1st in the world
The shipbuilding industry - 1st in the world
Memory industry - 1st in the world
World Trade Amount 10th in the world.
Total GDP - 1960 : 1.5 billion dollars = > 2007 : 960 billion dollars. 11th in the world


Sometimes people asks us why are you so proud of your country?
Koreans answer

We are not proud of our country for getting out of poverty
We have a strong SPIRIT

We do not want other people to suffer like we did.

That is why we are so very proud of our country.
We have made a promise to our children.
We will never let them suffer like we did.

== Some Interesting Fact of Korea ==

Actually, the English name, Korea, is from ancient country of hers history.
In Korea and Asian Regions, Korea is called as "Dae Han Min Guk" or "Han Guk"
For Example,
Chosen or Kankoku(In Japanese), Hanguo(In China, Taiwan), Han Quoc(Vietnam).
In Mongual, Korea is called as "Solongos", In Manchu, "Solho"


Korean Average Working Hour
= 2400hrs/yr (It's average. It's not the worst case. It could be 4000 hrs/yr)

For comparison,
OECD average = 1500~1600hrs/yr,
China (which is the most diligent) = 2200hrs/yr
Japan (which is called economic animal once) = 1600hrs/yr

According to Swiss Bank UBS,
1st. Cairo(Egypt) = 2,373 hrs/yr
2nd. Seoul(Korea) = 2,312 hrs/yr
3rd. Hong-kong(China) = 2,295 hrs/yr

From this fact, we can prove that Koreans are hard worker (or hard gamer(..?!))
